29.04.2012 Balconitis again!

We played another catalan plaza-balcony. This time in Palafrugell, a beautiful little town at the Costa Brava. The whole town had a kind of flowers and decoration centered fiesta, concerts and expositions in patios all over town. The Balconitis-crew was invited to organize two double sessions on saturday and sunday on balconies over the central main place of the town. We played sunday, after "Mariachis Semblanza". Behind lots of catalan flags.

New studio

We have a new studio. Actually we don't have it, we rent it for a couple of days per month. it's the studio of those guys: http://befaco.wordpress.com/ . They build modular synthesizers! They have a huge one in the other room of the studio:

Great stuff, hope we are going to jam one day on all of those machines and effects!!!

kinect connect - making music by dancing

We bought two kinect-cameras and are experimenting. The kinect camera tracks your body position in three dimensions and allows you to use your body-position as controller for all kinds of software.

We found a very nice software solution for using the kinect with ableton live by an american guy called Ryan Challinor. It's incredibly easy to use and pretty versatile. After a couple of minutes we had the first instruments ready to play by waving our hands in the air and Carsten recorded this video of myself having fun with it:

This was only the very beginning. We are now preparing a setup that allows to remix our music by dancing. Expect more videos soon....

Our concert at the closing night of the LEM-festival was great. Lots of people dancing in the audience (and on stage). As we had only about 45 minutes to play we compressed all the stuff that went well during the last concerts into a non-stop-show. Intense, intense. After the show we danced a lot to DJ Gonzo's set. Must have been a couple of years ago that I have been dancing to Can's "Mother Sky", my god, what a great track for freaking out. I also was impressed by the concerto of Cargo, two guitars, lots of pedals and little samplers, doing a droney, spaced out improvisation set.

Ableton Live User Group Barcelona

After giving last saturday's Masterclass in the NIU we decided with the participants to found the Ableton Live User Group Barcelona. There is a facebook group here. Meetings, workshops, all kinds of activities are expected.

20.07.2011 Sant Feliu de Guixols

Wonderful concert in an abandoned hospital in the centre of Sant Feliu de Guixols. The decoration they had come up with was all the x-mas-decoration from town stuffed together!! Best sound since a long time, the sound guy had some custom made subwoofers that made yummy bass (that's the company: www.nouso.net) . Hooray. The white whine was excellent, thank you, Luz, for bringing me another bottle to the stage! The party afterwards was wild. Breakfast was yummy again (tostadas with tahima and honey). Then we got invited for an exclusive visit of an exhibition of sound installations by Luthiers Drapaires. Excellent stuff, we especially love the Maquina de Amor that has been at several festivals where we played lately.

Then to finish our visit we had a nice swim at this beach, just around the corner. And excellent lunch on a parking lot in the harbour. Thanks  a million to Stefan and Barbora for driving us

OK, so we are going to be again on the Sonar Festival again.

We will try to find hackers that help us with our new interface:

New material from Intitut FATIMA: we have been preparing a liveset with singer ben Gala, aka Fisheart. In a couple of weeeks, on the 25th of june, we are going to present it in a double feature concert show at the Antic Teatre in Barcelona. Soon fotos, videos, music and more here on our website.

Picnic!

From our friend Helena Acosta we received this little video from our performance on last year's "Paradis Perdut"-picnic. This makes me

think that we really should play another picnic in some park here in Barcelona. Anyone up to organize such event with us?

Lleida! Y Reus!

Tomorrow, saturday 30 of april we play in Reus. And on monday 9th of may we play on a balcony in Lleida! Nice poster!

Generative music with Max4Live

Here is a little set for Ableton Live that uses the new max4live devices to generate a monotonous but everchanging ambient-tune. It uses only one sample from a kickdrum to make sounds of clicks, bass, pads and a theremin. You need the latest version of ableton live and max4live to open it.
